Business Continuity Planning

Planetworks has developed many Business Continuity Plans for our clients. This is associated with all major system developments spanning multiple interdependent areas of the client business. It is also a service offered to cover all aspects of business operations continuity and people safety.

With all business practice there is an essential risk management component that identifies “what could possibly go wrong” and how can we respond. This is increasingly important with global climate change, commercial threats and legal uncertainty.

Our work with Emergency Management British Columbia (EMBC) and with E-Comm Emergency Communications for British Columbia (E-Comm BC) has allowed us to understand the significant risks to the general population, business, and the government of British Columbia (BC). Planetworks has also developed solutions to support the emergency management practices of Mitigation, Preparation, Response and Recovery.

Planetworks has assessed the impact on the 911 system and Police/Fire/Ambulance dispatch for all of the major incidents in BC during the past 20 years, including the NHL Stanley Cup Championship riots in 2011, the 2015 windstorm, the 2021 heat dome, wildfires from various seasons and drug overdose outbreaks.

Planetworks has managed information sharing workshops between all of the major critical infrastructure providers in the province including Electricity, Gas, Water, Sewage, Pharmaceuticals, Transport, Healthcare, Communications, Financial services, Food and Government. These workshops were designed to develop working relationships between these essentially independent organisations to collaborate on how to plan for, and respond to, all types of major incidents throughout the province.

Organisational resilience is typically not brought into question until there are major system changes, or there is an incident that drives an organisation into action. Business as usual is threatened not only from physical and environmental threats, but also from acts of terror, cyber threats, information breaches, personnel threats, sanctions, tariffs and scandals.
