Russ Forrester is an electrical engineer with 35+ years of experience in a diverse range of industries, including electrical power utilities, telecommunication carriers and remote satellite communications throughout North America.
He has expertise in the Protection and Control and SCADA systems that ensure safe and reliable operation of the electrical power grid, and in-depth experience integrating these networks with communication technologies such as microwave radio, fibre optics, DWDM, SONET and MPLS systems. He also has expertise in critical facility infrastructure such as DC power and backup generators to support these networks, from large scale data centres to isolated repeater sites.
Drawing upon his many years as an engineering technologist he applies field experience to bring practical, hands-on skill to his engineering work. He is highly skilled at troubleshooting, planning network transitions throughout technology evolution and creating technical standards to ensure compliance, quality, and consistency.
He is proud of the value he brings to organizations and customers he has served in the utility, private and public sectors, in particular supporting Canada’s remote northern communities, where he has roots as a proud Métis.
